Finding clues BTS WINGS Tour Trailer and Blood, Sweat & Tears MV
BigHit Entertainment dropped a mysterious (Well everything is mysterious) MV – 2017 BTS LIVE TRILOGY EPISODE III THE WINGS TOUR Trailer. Goosebumps all over. Can I just say that V is the epitome of an angel or a devil in a human form created from either heaven or hell and put onto this earth to be drooled over by ordinary humans like me. Okey let’s get back to the review. I told myself “I won’t react to BTS MVs ever again I am tired of these hidden messages and clues. I cannot do this anymore they’re messing my mind!” But here I am again finding clues, reacting and crying silently because I don’t know what’s happening in the MV. To further understand it, I had to watch Blood, Sweat and Tears MV again, for the nth time and also read the book Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair’s Youth. I just also want to point out that the paintings used in the MVs makes the story more complex. Some paintings incorporates greek mythologies. They have stories that may make a huge impact to the storyline of WINGS album as a whole. I’ll be putting my theories per BTS member so that we’ll have a better view of their characters. First up is V. Here’s what I have so far.
ICARUS, Greek Mythology
This is where one of the paintings in the MV comes in. The name of the painting was “Landscape with the Fall of Icarus”.
In Greek Mythology ICARUS is the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, the creator of the Labyrinth. According to the legend, Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings out of wax and feathers for himself and his son in attempt to escape from Crete. Daedalus tried his wings first, but before trying to escape the island, he warned his son not to fly too close to the sun, nor too close to the sea, but to follow his path of flight. Overcome by the giddiness that flying lent him, Icarus soared into the sky, but in the process he came too close to the sun, which due to the heat melted the wax. Icarus kept flapping his wings but soon realized that he had no feathers left and that he was only flapping his bare arms, and so Icarus fell into the sea in the area which today bears his name, the Icarian Sea near Icaria, an island southwest of Samos.
There is a term about ICARUS COMPLEX. In psychoanalysis and personality theory first used by Henry A. Murray to describe a particular type of over-ambitious character. Psychosynthesis has applied it to those in whom spiritual ambition exceeds their personality limits, leading to a backlash.
V as Icarus is a False Angel
In the past MVs of BTS (The Most Beautiful Moment in My Life Trilogy) we saw that V and his father didn’t get along. It lead to a tragic event. Icarus did not heed the warning of his father and it lead to his death. Now if V is Icarus, and Jin acts like his father. Jin was responsible for giving V these fake temporary feathers and wings. (Argghhh the story is so messed up too many connections)
Theory about V(Kim Taehyung) character
It looks like V got his wings back with jet black feathers.
They looked jagged and strong. (Growing wings looks painful).
And with his reaction, he seems to be up to something really bad.
As he grows his wings we also see Jin with that cracking skin, face and hands. He’s becoming a statue (Just like the one he kissed in the Blood, Sweat and Tears MV), but he’s becoming a broken statue. Is it possible that Jin and V are exchanging positions? Jin is in the real world and V one of his alter ego is coming to life. I mean if you look at Blood, Sweat & Tears MV, the statue that Jin kissed is a statue of a man with feathers (OMG he kissed V) in the Episode III Wings Tour Trailer we can also see Jin kissing his reflection (Stop with all the kissing already haha). It is possible that Jin and V are one, but only one of them can live in the real world, Jin’s time is up and V is taking over. These are just my observations and theories. I know its so confusing I myself is confused let me know what you think, share your theories too.
I am learning a lot about Greek Mythology, Renaissance paintings and Psychology because of these MVs. If you’d like to check how I created the digital images used in this post, watch the video below. Thanks for reading and watching. See you on my next MV theory.
